Empowering the Next Generation

Educational institutions shape students’ futures by fostering knowledge, skills, and life experiences. Middle school, high school and college students often ponder: Who am I? What makes me unique? How do I thrive? What value can I add to the lives of others? How do I unlock my potential? These questions guide us to the Core Four: dreams and passions, gifts and talents—keys to personal growth that benefit both self and others.

Many don’t yet know their Core Four, but the answers lie within. Drawing from over a decade of personal insight, observation and talking about the topic with many people from all walks of life, Discovery Avenue has created tools to identify and pursue them, affirming every student’s worth.

Middle Schools (traditional and non-traditional)

Middle school is a time of discovery, curiosity and transition. Students are beginning to see the world and themselves in new ways. The school empowers them to turn those challenges into opportunities for growth.

Our complementary tools help students ask and reflect on the same or similar questions as the following:

  • How do I learn and grow?
  • How do I make an impact?
  • How do I stay strong when things get tough?
  • Where do I shine the most?
  • What helps me grow and reach my goals?
As a student explores those types of core questions, they build the foundation of self-awareness, empathy, resilience and celebrate what makes them one of the kind. The experience taps into their imagination, helping them to connect what they are learning in school to who they are becoming as individuals.

The more students engage with the Core Four concepts the more they develop a sense of purpose, identity and belonging. It gives them the language to describe their goals, the courage to try new things and the understanding that their uniqueness has real value to their school community and beyond.

The Discovery Avenue services can blend naturally in the schools existing curriculum, as an extracurricular activity or however the school deems is best.

High Schools (traditional and non-traditional)

Our complementary tools help students answer such questions as:

  • What extracurriculars suit me?
  • Should I attend college or take a gap year?
  • Which courses align with me?
  • Should I pursue work and if so what work should I pursue?
  • Who supports my growth?
Integrated into classes or after-school programs, these resources boost focus by further connecting education to personal purpose.

The more a student feels they are accessing what they have to offer and what is important to them the more focus they will likely have on their education.

One reason may be they see the value of the education they are receiving as they see how it benefits their pursuit of their dreams and passions and their using, expressing and developing their gifts and talents.

Colleges

For first-year students, or students unsure of the degree path they have chosen, our complementary tools guide academic and career choices, for example: answering questions such as:

  • What electives or majors fit me?
  • Should I pursue further studies or work?
  • What work should I pursue?
  • Who would be a good mentor?

Used in classes or extracurriculars, our tools help clarify the student's path.
